A man suffered a head injury during a suspected attack in Liverpool city centre.
Police discovered the 56-year-old upon being called to Hanover Street at around 6.10pm on Wednesday following reports of a disturbance.
A 26 year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of s18 assault and remains in custody today where he will be questioned.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Hanover Street who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
Detective Sergeant Samantha Davies said: “This incident took place at just after 6pm and there would have been lot of people around at that time – either people walking along the streets, in the shops, bars or restaurants or driving past – who may have witnessed the incident.
“We would ask anyone who believes they may have seen what happened and could assist with our investigation to get in touch.”
