£20k reward offered to find Shaun Walmsley

A £20,000 reward has been offered in the hunt for escaped Liverpool prisoner Shaun Walmsley.

Walmsley continues to elude police capture after he was forcibly released from custody by a group of armed men during a visit to Aintree hospital last month.

The 38-year-old was serving a life sentence the 2014 murder of Anthony Duffy.

Merseyside Police are set to launch a CCTV appeal to trace Walmsley on BBC’s Crimewatch programme as well as offering a reward from his personal funds.

Officers seized the £20,000 on offer when Walmsley, a drug dealer, was one of four people convicted of Mr Duffy’s killing.

DS Natalie Perischine said: “We have had a really good response from members of the public around the country following our appeals.

“But we still need that crucial information about his present whereabouts.

“We have invested significant resources in trying to trace Walmsley to no avail, and we don’t think it is right that public money is being used in this way.”
