Detectives in Liverpool are investigating after shots were fired at a Speke house.
Police were called to an address in Speke Church Road shortly before 8pm on Monday following reports that a shotgun had caused damage to a window.
Although no one was injured during the incident, officers attending the scene found damage to a window consistent with a shotgun discharge.
An investigation into the shooting has been launched and police are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
The shooting is initially believed to be targeted at this early stage.
A high visibility police presence will remain in the area in the coming days to provide reassurance to the community.
Forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out.
Liverpool Local Policing Superintendent Mark Wiggins said: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the area of Speke Church Road before 8pm last night.
“There may have been some activity close to the address and any detail you may have on people or vehicles, however small, could be vital in our investigations.
“I want to reassure people that we will be relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and have had recent successes, both in seizing firearms and arresting people suspected to be involved in this activity.
“Key to these results is always information from our communities and I would urge people to keep supporting this work and speak to us, whether directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers.”
Anyone who may have information which could help police is urged to contact the gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600, or Crimestoppers anonymously and for free on 0800 555 111.
