Tributes paid to Walton murder victim Stephen Essery

The family of a man stabbed to death in Walton last weekend have led tributes to ‘a loving, kind and gentle soul’.

Stephen Essery was killed by a singular stab wound to his arm on Milman Road on Saturday night.

Four people remain in custody on suspicion of murdering the 51-year-old last weekend

In a statement released by Merseyside Police, Mr Esser’s family said “Stephen will be very sadly missed, he was a loving son, father, brother and uncle.

“He was known for the love of his dogs and being a big Everton supporter.

“He was a loving, kind and gentle soul.”

Tributes to the murder victim has poured in as a fifth man was arrested yesterday.

A 20-year-old man from Everton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a police station in Merseyside to be questioned.
