Where does Salah sit among Liverpool GOATs?

When Mohamed Salah pulled into Anfield on June 22, 2017, few could have predicted the impact that he would make at Liverpool Football Club.

Previous experience of life in English football may have been boasted from a short stint at Chelsea, but there were plenty of ‘can he do it?’ questions hanging in the air.

Fast forward some six-and-a-half years and the Egyptian King has made a Merseyside crown his own.

Salah has become a force of nature with the Reds – one that has helped himself to seven major honours and countless individual awards.

Silverware

The intention is to add to that medal collection in 2024, with Jurgen Klopp’s side beginning to move through trophy-winning gears once more.

The Reds will forever be fancied in every competition they take part in, with star-studded ranks allowing major silverware to fall within reach on an annual basis.

Liverpool remain in contention across multiple fronts this term – at home and abroad – and odds on them adding more entries to a well-stocked cabinet at Anfield will continue to shorten for those seeking betting sign-up offers from the wide range of markets covering everything from the Premier League to FA Cup via the Europa League and Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah continues to show that he can be the man to provide inspiration as Klopp’s side look to make amends for a 2022-23 campaign that saw them finish empty-handed.

The African superstar has picked up a useful habit of rewriting the record books, with the 200-goal mark passed as a Liverpool player in December 2023.

Only four men have ever found the target on more occasions for the Reds, with a place among the immortals being taken up by a talismanic presence of the modern era.

Where, though, does Salah sit on that glittering list?

Former Reds star Luis Garcia has said when presented with that question: “It’s very difficult, but Salah has to be in, let’s call it, the top 10. In fact, even in the top five, if you consider all the goal-scoring numbers and what he has won and everything.”

The Spaniard says he would have to “choose between Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard” at the very top of said chart, but Salah continues to close in fast.

Legend

Iconic figures from years gone by have achieved too much for Salah to ever reach the No.1 spot, with questions continuing to be asked of how long he will be sticking around in England, but hitting the top five would be some achievement.

Having arrived as something of an unknown quantity, the Egypt international will walk away – whenever that day comes – as a bona fide legend. He has exceeded expectations in the most stunning of fashions and etched his name into the history books.

Salah will be remembered as an all-time great in Premier League circles, so remarkable has his impact been, and will also head out to pasture among Liverpool’s iconic collection of GOATs once the famous Anfield turf has been graced for a last time.
