Liverpool is already a vibrant city and a veritable pleasure palace, with a nightlife so good that it was named as one of the top 50 things in the world everyone should experience before they die. Nonetheless, there are even more bars, restaurants and venues coming to the city over the next few months, at a rate of new openings that looks set to surpass the dizzying pace set in 2018. If you’re looking for the hottest new openings in Merseyside in the year ahead, read on to find out.

Honest Burgers opened its first ever brand in Brixton a few years back and has since expanded to include two dozen sites in the capital alone, as well as openings in Cambridge, Reading and Bristol. The hugely successful burger bar places a strong emphasis on high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients and has already proved to be a smash hit at pop-up festivals across the country. Their Liverpool location will be landing on Bold Street later this year, with the date yet to be announced.
The Dixie Dean Hotel
One step closer to opening our doors.
The sign is now up! 🙌 #dixiedeanhotel #efc pic.twitter.com/EzUrFAeUJx— The Dixie Dean Hotel (@dixiedeanhotel) January 10, 2019
Dixie Dean is undoubtedly one of Liverpool’s most well-known footballing legends and he’ll be getting an entire hotel in his honour later this year. The £10 million mega-development on Victoria Street will be the city’s first entirely-football themed hotel, meaning it is bound to be popular with the millions of football fans who flock to the city every year. Expect several bars, upscale restaurants and countless high-profile events themed around the fixture calendar.
George Henry Lee Casino (Pending)
Back at Liverpool council’s planning committee – major proposals today include plans to convert the old George Henry Lee’s shop into a hotel and casino.

The George Henry Lee building is both a source of pride and melancholy, having been sat empty and abandoned in the city centre for years. As of 2019 that may no longer be these case, as property developer Niboco has submitted planning permission for a sprawling new casino and hotel to be built on the site. The decision is currently pending approval, but we expect gambling fans and newbies alike will be going online to brush up on their skills, with slots, live blackjack games and card games which you can find here. Offering jackpots worth millions of pounds, they’ll play a helping hand in preparing gamers to make the most of this exciting new venue, which – we’re promised – will retain and restore the unique architecture of the former iconic department store. You might even win big enough to dine out at the best restaurants in Montauk.
Bundobust
Bollyflower, surely the most-photographed dish in Liverpool this past weekend? Loved working with Maray for our Bold Spice supper club, and we’re flattered by the reaction from you all. See you at @merchantpub next Wednesday – Friday! pic.twitter.com/zOyeyD7vf9

The uber-hipster Indian street food restaurant Bundobust was met with critical acclaim when it opened its first brand in Leeds a couple of years ago and now Bold Street is set to have a site of its own. Liverpudlians will be able to enjoy affordable Indian street food hits from every corner of the Subcontinent, alongside a sprawling selection of real IPAs. This should prove a godsend to everyone on Bold Street who can’t get a table at Mowgli.
Junkyard Golf Club

Just in case you were sick of being unable to get a slot for Ghetto Golf in the Baltic Triangle, another hipster minigolf venue is set to open nearby. The neon-drenched golfing experience is already a hit in London, Manchester, Leeds and Oxford and now Liverpool ONE will be getting a branch of its very own. Better start working on your stroke.
All in all, 2019 is looking to be another exciting year for new business openings in Liverpool. Now all that’s left to do is to book out some space in your calendar.
