The Biggest Casino Winners in History: Where Are They Now?

Casino games probably represent one of the best form of entertainment, as the player is not only killing time but he is also enhancing his opportunities to win money.

Winning a lottery may sound rosy and good, but it does not come with the kind of entertainment offered by casino games. There is a pre-conceived notion that wins from casino games may not be as high as a lottery, but it is certainly not true.

This may be a direct result of casino winners not receiving much media attention. Nowadays, this attention has reduced even further with players preferring online casinos, like the Betsson online casino, to stay under the radar. Here are some of the biggest casino winners and what they are doing now:

Cynthia Jay Brennan – $35 million

Cynthia Jay Brennan could not believe her luck when she was successful at a Las Vegas casino in 2000. Just as the world was welcoming the 21st century, little did Cynthia know that her life was going to change forever. A cocktail waitress, Cynthia claimed a $35 million prize to be named as the winner of the largest jackpot in casino history up until that point. However, she met with a horrible accident just a month later. After losing her sister to this accident, Cynthia found herself paralysed from the waist down.

Much of the winnings have been spent on her treatment, but on a sad note, Cynthia just wishes to walk again and see her sister rather than care about the $35 million.

Elmer Sherwin – $21 million

It is extremely rare that people get lucky twice when it comes to the lottery. In terms of the casino, however, few have managed this feat to the same extent as Elmer Sherwin. He managed to win the Megabucks slot twice. The first victory was in 1989 when he claimed a prize of $4.6 million. Incredibly, he managed to achieve this feat again in 2005 when he visited the Cannery Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas. The Megabucks machine at this casino provided him even bigger rewards. Sherwin had won an additional $21 million. Much of the money went to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund, while he has also set up plenty of support facilities for his family.

Sherwin did not get to enjoy his second success for much longer, as he passed away in 2007.

Kerry Packer – $30 million

Probably, Kerry Packer is one of the greatest of the gamblers to be highly successful at a casino. He was not a professional, but he was, in fact, a businessman who was a billionaire. Packer had so much money at his disposal that he would not fret about losing $20 million at a casino. Perhaps, he was always feeling quite confident about winning an even bigger amount. It indeed was the case as Packer managed to win a whopping $30 million at one of the best casinos in the world – MGM casino. The success came in 1997. Known for his lavish lifestyle, it would not be uncommon for Packer to give $1 million in tips to the waitress.

Packer made his fortune in the media business after starting out as a journalist. While it is not uncommon to see billionaires losing a few million in the casinos, Packer was different from the rest as he managed to win big. Despite such spending, Packer was immensely successful in his career that he passed away in 2005 as a billionaire. Over the years, he acquired major businesses including the Crown Casino Network – one of the top gambling companies in the world.

Ashley Revell – $270,000

While Ashley Revell’s success may not rank as high as the others in terms of numbers, it is truly one of the greatest stories in the world of casino victories. Ashley Revell was just a regular guy in the United Kingdom, and he had a reasonable amount of comfort thanks to a comfortable car and other personal convenience elements. After a discussion with his friends in a pub, he decided to take up the challenge of betting on all his possessions at a casino. This meant he had to sell his entire belongings, and it raised about $153,000. Revell travelled to Las Vegas with this money and negotiated with two major casinos for an exclusive roulette table along with live TV coverage.

Plaza Hotel & Casino ended up meeting his requirements, and he was provided with an exclusive table along with Sky Network coverage. At the last moment of the spin, Revell decided to go with the popular opinion of red. This proved to be the correct choice, as he made an astonishing $270,000.

Floyd Mayweather – $500,000+

Floyd Mayweather is not just good for boxing, but he is also excellent when it comes to gambling. Nicknamed ‘Money’, he is known for his ostentatious display of wealth. He has tweeted pictures of winning amounts like $90,000 and $40,000, although they would seem like small change for someone who has a garage worth several million pounds.
