The distinctive trill of Spanish guitar will echo around the rooms of Lady Lever Art Gallery this summer as it celebrates its hit new exhibition, Picasso Linocuts from the British Museum with a programme of free events.
From Flamenco guitar and dance performances, to linocut demonstrations and family activities, the new exhibition is the inspiration behind a packed programme which aims to share the influences behind Picasso’s genius and introduce his innovative approach to linocut prints.
Xanthe Brooke, Curator of European Fine Art said: “Picasso was the most influential European artist of the 20thcentury and his work continues to inspire and astonish audiences more than 40 years after his death.
“This programme of talks, tours, performances, demonstrations and workshops will enable our visitors to get a better understanding of the artist, including his boundless invention and creativity, even in the later years of his life.”
Picasso Linocuts from the British Museum is on display at the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight until 8 January 2017.
Events will include Exhibition talks by Jenny Ramkalawon, Curator of Western Modern and Contemporary Graphic Works
from the British Museum who will offer a fascinating talk about the exhibition.
There will also be Linocut workshops headed up by Frances Disley from the Bluecoat Print Studios.
