Koeman confirms Everton FC interest in Depay

Ronald Koeman has confirmed Everton’s interest in signing Memphis Depay.

Depay faces an uphill struggle after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, who are preparing to listen to offers for him in January.

Koeman continues to retain an interest in the winger, having tried to sign him at Southamption prior to his move to Old Trafford in summer 2015.

The Blues manager was at the Amsterdam Arena to see Depay’s second-half cameo in Holland’s friendly draw with Belgium on Wednesday night.

And speaking on a Dutch TV show, Koeman has revealed he is keen on bringing the 22-year-old to Goodison Park in the upcoming transfer window.

“He’s a young player with individual qualities, like aggression and efficiency”, he told Tafel Meet Kees.

“I would like [to sign] him in January.

“He is a good and interesting player; he’s shown that in his early days at Manchester United.

“But more recently it’s been less. He needs to play more games.”
