Farhad Moshiri has claimed Ronald Koeman’s comments about Romelu Lukaku’s future were ‘taken out of context’.
Koeman gave an interview to Belgian newspaper HLN earlier this week in which he tipped Lukaku to someday emulate Patrick Kluivert at Barcelona.
But the quotes appeared to infer that the striker’s full potential would have been unfulfilled if he remained with the Blues for the remainder of his career.
Moshiri insists that there is no reason for the interview to cause alarm about Lukaku’s impending future at Goodison Park.
“It has been taken out of context,” he told TalkSport.
“Ronald Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club Barcelona.
“It is just player-coach talk.”
