Liverpool City Council have unveiled their plans to transform Walton Breck Road.
The main road next to Anfield stadium is set to have a more pedestrian-friendly layout with space for community events and even temporary shops.
A number of the area’s derelict buildings will also be either demolished or renovated.
The plans will extend from the road’s junction with Robson Street to the junction of Oakfield Road and Houlding Street, where the Sandon pub is located.
A hotel could also be built in the renovation plans, which will be undertaken in the next two years, with Joe Anderson, the Mayor of Liverpool, backing the vision.
He said: “We believe we have created a vision for the high street which will absolutely transform the area, supporting existing shops and businesses and attracting new ones.
“We now want residents to speak to us again and let us know if they want these plans to become reality.
“The unveiling of our proposals follows three years of partnership working which have already gone a long way towards creating a more vibrant and successful community.
“There is much still to be done but today marks yet another milestone in our ambitions to create a brighter Anfield for everyone.”
