Niasse made just seven appearances last season after struggling to adapt to life at Goodison Park since his £13.5 million arrival from Lokamotiv Moscow.
And a swift return to the Senegal striker’s former club appears a possibility after just six months with the Blues amid interest from Russian side.
Lokamotiv have been joined by local rivals Spartak Moscow while Hull City and Galatasaray previously enquired about Niasse in recent weeks.
Ronald Koeman told the 26-year-old that he does not feature in his plans this season and the player himself recently admitted he envisages staying in England.
