Everton are threatening to walk away from talks to sign Manolo Gabbiadini.
Ronald Koeman had turned his attention to the Italy striker after the Blues lost out on landing Deportivo La Coruna’s Lucas Perez to Arsenal.
Gabbiadini is understood to be keen on moving to Goodison Park but Napoli’s delayed approach has placed the transfer in jeopardy ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.
The Serie A club are keen to source a replacement before allowing the 24-year-old to leave in a deal worth in the region of £20 million.
Koeman also faces an anxious wait on his planned reunion with Cuco Martina.
The full-back was expected to link up with his former manager on Merseyside until injury to Jeremy Pied forced Southampton to put the deal on hold.
News that Pied will require surgery on the knee problem has left Everton’s hopes of finalising Martina’s move hanging in the balance.
