Liverpool restaurant car crash causes gas leak

Several buildings have been evacuated after a car crashed into a Liverpool city centre restaurant.

Police were called to North John Street at around 12.35pm on Saturday (November 7) following a Peugeot car’s collision with the window of Tiger Rock Restaurant.

Three people had been inside the restaurant at the time and were assessed for minor injuries while the driver remained at the scene to assist with enquiries.

There is no indication that the crash was a deliberate act.

Several neighbouring buildings were evacuated and road closures put in place after Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the crash caused a gask leak.

Closures remain in effect at the junction of Dale Street and North John Street as well as North John Street and Lord Street while the surrounding area is made safe.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Facebook or X, or by calling 101 with reference 392.
