Everton FC handed transfer ultimatum by Premier League rival

Chelsea have reportedly given Everton an ultimatum over Romelu Lukaku’s future.

Plans to see the Belgium international rejoin his former club remain very much alive despite the Blues rejecting an initial £40 million approach.

But The Times claim that Stamford Bridge officials have warned that their final approach for Lukaku will be their last before the transfer window closes on August 31.

It comes just 12 months after Chelsea saw efforts to prise John Stones away from Everton repeatedly rejected by the Goodison Park hierarchy.

The defender is widely expected to join Manchester City this summer despite interest from both the Londoners and Manchester United in recent months.

Chelsea are understood to be preparing a bid just shy of £70 million for Lukaku.
