Kinnear begins role as Everton’s new CEO

Angus Kinnear has officially started his role as Everton’s new CEO.

Kinnear was originally due to take up the position on June 1 after the end of his eight-year spell in a similar role with Premier League-bound Leeds United.

But following the Whites’ successful promotion bid, the 47-year-old has moved to Merseyside ahead of schedule in what will be pivotal early weeks.

Beyond his time at Elland Road, Kinnear boasts a wealth of top flight experience after holding senior positions at both Arsenal and West Ham.

He joins the Blues in the same week that the club will bid a fond farewell to Goodison Park before the move to Bramley-Moore Dock this summer.

“This is a club with a huge and passionate fanbase, steeped in a proud history and with enormous potential thanks to the vision of our ownership and the move this summer to an awe-inspiring new stadium,” said Kinnear.

“I am excited to work with my colleagues at the club, our partners, and our fans as we strive together to deliver a successful and sustainable future for Everton, both on and off the pitch.”

Kinnear takes over from Colin Chong, who was interim CEO from June 2023, and will revert to his existing role as chief real estate and regeneration officer.

Chong will have responsibility for developing Everton’s new stadium and the surrounding area in addition to the long-term future of Goodison Park.
