Beto believes Everton’s inability to hold onto a lead may be due to ‘ghosts from the past’.
Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town saw David Moyes’ side surrender a comfortable advantage in games for the fourth time in the current campaign.
Only West Bromwich Albion in 2013/14 have also achieved such a dubious feat, which the Blues could still eclipse in their remaining three matches of this season.
But while Beto is at a loss as to the exact reasons behind the collapse, he hinted that the scarring experience of previous instances could be a possible factor.
He said: “There is not a reason [why], but we know this is happening.
“Maybe when you are on the pitch we think too much about this; the ghosts from the past come, but I don’t know.
“I just think we need to keep going forward because next time maybe when we are 2-0 up, we keep the result or score more goals.
“We want to win. I cannot speak for next season because we still have three games to focus on – but this season and next season, we don’t want to draw.
“We want to have more wins than draws and more wins than losses.”
The Guinea-Bissau international opened the scoring against the Tractor Boys to extend his goal return to seven in the Premier League so far this term.
It also marked his first in nine top-flight outings since finding the net in February’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United as the forward seeks to improve his personal tally.
“It was a big relief, I cannot lie,” he admitted.
“I was trying to find the goal so bad and today I did it. I’m happy to score and help the team. But maybe I can score more, and trying to win.”
“I feel confident. I need to be a threat always in the box so my team knows that they score and cross, and I will try to finish.
“I am more confident now. I am more stable now, and maybe I am more hungry now.”
