Arne Slot confirms triple Liverpool injury blow

Liverpool are set to be without a trio of defenders for several weeks at least.

Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley both limped out of Wednesday’s Champions League win over Real Madrid with with knee and hamstring injuries respectively.

The France international has already confirmed his setback and arrived at Anfield ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Manchester City on crutches and in a knee brace.

Kostas Tsimikas, meanwhile, also appeared on crutches and wearing a protective boot due to an ankle injury sustained in training ahead of Madrid’s midweek visit.

Speaking after the win over City, Arne Slot confirmed all three players have been ruled out for at least Wednesday’s trip to Newcastle and the Merseyside derby.

He said: “They will both be out for a few weeks.

“I have said many times before, it’s always difficult to judge how many weeks this exactly is because you can think in the beginning it’ll be like this and then the end stage of an injury process can always differ a bit.

“They will not be in the team this week, for sure, both of them – and actually I don’t think Kostas will be with us in the upcoming week as well.”
