Tributes to man killed in Norris Green crash

The family of a man who died in a Norris Green road crash have paid tribute to him.

John Newton was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Transit van on Utting Avenue East which emergency services attended last Sunday (February 25).

The 81-year-old, who was a pedestrian at the time of the incident, sadly passed away the following day.

In a tribute, his family said: “The family wish to express their sincere thanks to everyone that came to help our beloved Dad. John is missed by his whole family including children, grandchildren and the community we live in.

“He was well known in the area having owned his own garage and worked as a mechanic for over 50 years before semi-retiring last year.

“He was still very active and enjoying running and cycling.

“We hope that those responsible for his death or that know anything will have a turn of conscience and come forward to the police. He will forever be in our hearts.”
