Liverpool John Lennon Airport is set to undergo a multimillion revamp.
A £9 million overhaul will see existing outlets such as Starbucks, Upper Crust and the Kissing Gate pub refurbished and extended under the new plans.
Airport bosses are undertaking the move in efforts to serve an increase in passenger numbers ahead of the arrival of Jet2’s multi-destination service.
The operator will launch 54 weekly flights to 20 destinations across Europe later this year from the Speke terminal, adding more variety for travellers.
LJLA have also signed a new long-term partnership with hospitality company SSP Group, who have operated at the travel hub for the past two decades.
Sable & Co. Bar and Kitchen, a high-end eatery, will be the first instalment which will be situated on the mezzanine level and due to open this spring.
Refurbishment to Starbucks and Upper Crust will be included in the next phase of redevelopment while the Kissing Gate’s premises will be extended.
An American-style diner set to offer an all-day menu is set to follow after the new Burger King and Tap & Brew bar opened last month.
SSP’s CEO for UK & Ireland Kari Daniels said: “This development is testament to the high standard of our offer over the time we’ve been operating at Liverpool John Lennon.
“We’ve built strong relationships with the team here, and we’re delighted to be working closely with them now to make the F&B offer at this great UK airport even better.
“We’re very much looking forward to welcoming passengers at our fabulous new bars, restaurants and cafes.”
