The mother of James Bulger has pleaded for one of his killers not to be released.
A parole board hearing will determine whether Jon Venables, who brutally murdered the Merseyside toddler in 1993, will be allowed to leave prison.
Venables and fellow schoolboy Robert Thompson were given new identities upon their initial release in 2001 after serving a minimum term of eight years.
But the now 41-year-old has since returned to custody on two occasions in 2010 and 2017 after being found in possession of child sexual abuse images.
He was denied parole at a previous hearing but is set to reapply as part of a two-day private hearing held by the parole board, beginning on Tuesday.
James’s mother Denise Fergus has consistently pleaded for Venables not to be released and made a direct appeal to the board directly ahead of the case.
“Look into my eyes and see what I’ve had to deal with for 30 years – three decades of hell,” she told the Daily Mirror.
“Keep people safe from this monster, because that is what he is, and don’t give him what he wants.
“If he goes on to commit more crimes after you release him, it will be on your shoulders. So, I’m just asking you to do the right thing.”
