Two schoolboys are in hospital after being stabbed near a Wavertree park.
Emergency services were called to Colville Street in the area at around 7.25pm on Saturday following reports of an incident involving teenagers.
A 15-year-old suffered injuries to his head and a 13-year-old wounds to his back and shoulder that were consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
Police believe the pair were by the Mystery Park when the incident occurred and urged anyone with information to come forward as a ‘matter of urgency’.
Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “We are working to establish what has taken place and carrying out a number of lines of enquiry.
“We believe the teenagers were near the Mystery Park when the incident happened and would ask anyone who was in that area who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone who has information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111
