A man has been arrested at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.
Sir Keir Starmer was interrupted as he prepared to deliver a keynote speech on Tuesday at the ACC conference centre on the city’s iconic waterfront.
Glitter was thrown over the leader of the opposition before the protestor before he was swiftly dragged off the stage by the event’s security team.
Merseyside Police have since confirmed that a 28-year-old from Surrey was detained over several offences after being handed over to officers.
“We can confirm that a 28-year-old man from Surrey has been arrested following an incident at the Labour Party Conference earlier this afternoon,” confirmed the force.
“The man was detained by security at the event and handed over to the police who arrested him on suspicion of S39 assault, breach of the peace and causing public nuisance.
“He has been taken to a police station where he will be questioned by police.”
