Liverpool are in talks over signing Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.
Gravenberch has been on the Anfield club’s radar for the best part of 12 months, dating back to his time at Ajax, as they seek midfield upgrades.
But interest in the Netherlands international cooled earlier this summer amid Manchester United’s potential involvement in the race for his signature.
Now running unopposed, however, the Reds have taken proactive steps towards a deal for Gravenberch with Bayern ahead of the transfer deadline.
The 21-year-old is understood to favour a move to the Premier League and would be keen on linking up with Jurgen Klopp’s side were it to materialise.
A formal offer has yet to be submitted but a fee in the region of £35 million is expected to be enough to tempt the Bundesliga champions into a sale.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are adamant that their stance over Mohamed Salah’s future remains unchanged amid claims of renewed interest from Al Ittihad.
The Saudi Pro League club have reportedly submitted a nine-figure bid in efforts to tempt the Egyptian away before the European window closes.
Anfield chiefs have yet to receive any offers for Salah nor would they entertain the prospect of selling him so close to Friday’s market deadline.
