A man has died on the site of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Regent Road following reports that the 26-year-old had suffered an injury around 1pm on Monday.
He was taken to Aintree Hospital where he was sadly later pronounced dead.
The incident that led to the man’s death is being investigated by workplace accident regulators Health and Safety Executive who conducting enquries.
Construction workers on the 52,888-capacity arena were also sent home.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that a man has died following an incident at Bramley Moore Dock this afternoon, Monday 14 August.
“At around 1pm it was reported that a 26-year-old man had been injured and emergency services attended the scene.
“The man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed.
“Officers remain at the scene as we continue with the early stages of the investigation alongside the Health and Safety Executive.”
