Everton’s new stadium has been confirmed as a host venue for the UK and Ireland’s Euro 2028 bid.
Work on the impressive 52,888-capacity arena at Bramley-Moore Dock is due to be completed in the second half of 2024 ahead of the Blues moving in.
The waterfront stadium was chosen as the city of Liverpool’s preferred venue last November and is one of 10 listed for the tournament’s potential hosting.
Jordan Pickford was part of England’s team which reached the Euro 2020 final and believes Everton’s future home offers great possibilities for football fans.
He said: “Having proudly represented my country at major tournaments, I’ve seen the pride and impact being a host venue has on the clubs and people in those areas.
“If this bid is successful then the people of Liverpool will have the opportunity to be a part of something truly special and to show off what a fantastic and welcoming city it is.
“They will get to see some of best players across Europe and the city will become a temporary home to nations that will no doubt bring their own culture, noise and colour to Everton Stadium.”
UEFA will make a final decision on the hosts for Euro 2028 this autumn.
