Man in court on Elle Edwards murder charge

A man has been charged with the murder of Elle Edwards in Wallasey.

The 26-year-old beautician was fatally shot in the head on December 24 last year at The Lighthouse pub when a gunman opened fire outside its entrance.

Connor Chapman appeared at Wirral Adult Remand Court on Friday just hours after detectives had charged him with gunning down Elle on Christmas Eve.

Two counts of attempted murder and three counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm were also brought against the 22-year-old.

Chapman, of Woodchurch, was also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life.

All counts relate to the incident at The Lighthouse last month.

A 23-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail as the murder investigation continues.
