Two given 8-year bans for Hillsborough slurs

Two football fans have received eight-year bans for slurs about Hillsborough.

Video footage emerged of Shrewsbury Town supporters appearing to chant about the 1989 disaster after their FA Cup third round exit against Liverpool.

The League One outfit’s goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne publicly condemned the individuals involved while the club confirmed it was looking into the incident.

Shrewsbury announced on Tuesday that they had since taken action to stop two individuals from attending their future games following their investigation.

“As part of the ongoing investigation into incidents at the Liverpool Emirates FA Cup tie, Shrewsbury Town has today banned two individuals from attending future games for a total of eight years,” read a club statement.

“As a club we do not condone and will not tolerate any behaviour that breaches our supporter code of conduct and brings our good name into disrepute.”
