Klopp and Liverpool win at SPOTY 2020 awards

Liverpool won two awards at the 2020 BBC Sport Personality of the Year.

Jurgen Klopp received Manager of the Year at Sunday’s ceremony in Manchester after delivering Anfield’s first-ever Premier League title.

Further recognition was given to the Reds, who were crowned Team of the Year for a second time since 2001 for winning three trophies last season.

However there was disappointment for captain Jordan Henderson, who finished second for the main award to F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.

“I think my team deserve it because they did an incredible job,” said Klopp.

“It is a mix of talent, character, desire, plus the power of the club, which is really a big one.

“That all comes together so we became champions and it was a great moment.

“We do what we can to bridge the time until they (fans) are back. We want to organise a big, big party when it’s allowed again.

“Maybe we can win something before then but if not the one thing we won last year for sure.

“Getting this prize in Manchester as well makes it even sweeter.”
