Diogo Jota’s Liverpool comeback ‘going well’

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is progressing ‘well’ in his road to recovery.

Jota’s impressive start to life at Anfield was curtailed by a knee injury sustained against Midtjylland that threatened to sideline him for two months.

The Portugal international missed the Reds’ last two games following the problem picked up in last week’s Champions League dead rubber encounter.

But Jota revaled on Friday that he has been making positive steps in his rehabilitation from the same injury that laid low teammate Kostas Tsimikas.

He said: “Now I am supporting from the outside it is not easy.

“It’s even harder when you need to suffer as a fan and you can do literally nothing to help the team on the field!

“I’m doing my best to be back as soon as possible. Things are going well but knee injuries are always complicated so we cannot rush things.

“But I am doing well and I will be back on the field as soon as possible, like I say.”

Jota, 24, scored nine goals from 17 appearances in all competitions since sealing a £41 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September.
