Jordan Henderson out for rest of the season

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of Liverpool’s season.

Henderson suffered a knee injury during Wednesday’s win over Brighton and is now set to be sidelined for the final two weeks of the current campaign.

But fears over the Reds captain being ruled out for the start of the 2020/21 season have been allayed after a scan showed that it will not require surgery.

Klopp also insisted that Henderson will lift the Premier League title following Liverpool’s final home game of the season against Chelsea on July 22.

He said: “Hendo is actually really the best possible of all the bad news. It is a knee injury, but no surgery needed.

“He will not play anymore in the latter stage of this season but I am pretty positive he will start with us the new season.

“We were all concerned in the moment we saw him in going down and when he left the pitch and stuff like this.

“Yesterday when we got the news, it was a big relief for all of us. It is not cool, obviously, but it is the best we could get.

“Hendo will be back; he is a quick healer and he will be back soon.”

“He deserves to lift the trophy – and he will lift the trophy,” added Klopp.

“As I said, no surgery needed, that’s the good news.

“For all the rest, we can make our own decisions – or I think a few decisions at least – how it will be around the trophy lift.

“But Hendo will lift the trophy.”
