Date set for Liverpool’s FA Cup trip to Chelsea

Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea will take place on Tuesday, March 3.

The Premier League leaders set up a meeting with Frank Lampard’s side by overcoming Shrewsbury Town in their fourth round replay on Tuesday.

Thursday’s confirmation of the fifth round ties sees the Reds’ midweek trip to Stamford Bridge selected for television with BBC broadcasting the game live.

It marks the start of a testing month for Jurgen Klopp’s players, who will welcome Bournemouth to Anfield just four days following the Chelsea game.

That is set to be followed by the return leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Atletico Madrid before facing Everton at Goodison Park on March 16.

Should Liverpool overcome the west Londoners, Crystal Palace’s visit on March 21 will be rescheduled due to their involvement in the quarter-finals.

Klopp’s side have also learned of the date for their Premier League defence with the upcoming 2020/21 season set to kick off on Saturday, August 8.

As champions, Liverpool will be involved in the Community Shield on August 2, when they will face the previous season’s FA Cup winners at Wembley.
