Takumi Minamino is set to finalise his move to Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Japan international will seal a January transfer to Anfield for a cut-price fee of £7.25 million due to a clause in his contract with Red Bull Salzburg.
Minamino could make his debut for the Reds in next month’s FA Cup third round clash against Everton with the deal due to be ratified on New Year’s Day.
He attracted Jurgen Klopp’s attention during Liverpool’s Champions League group meetings with Salzburg and scored in October’s Anfield encounter.
Already this season, the 24-year-old has been involved in 20 of the Austrian Bundesliga side’s goals from his 22 appearances in all competitions.
Minamino missed Salzburg’s 2-2 draw with Hartberg last weekend through injury, just days after Liverpool had triggered his release clause.
