Liverpool ‘favourites to land Sancho in January’

Liverpool are reportedly favourites to sign Jadon Sancho in January.

Sancho is said to be considering his future at Borussia Dortmund, where his relationship with the hierarchy is understood to have soured in recent months.

The Bundesliga outfit are expected to listen to offers for the teenager forward, who has attracted interest from several clubs including Manchester United.

But the Reds are allegedly winning the current race for Sancho’s signature.

According to former footballer turned journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, Jurgen Klopp is in the box seat to poach the England international from his former employers.

Sancho could leave Signal Iduna Park as early as the next transfer window despite the ex-Manchester City prodigy racking up 18 goals in 57 league games.

Klopp revealed in February that Liverpool tracked Sancho, 19, before an £8 million move to Dortmund in 2017 but were unable to convince City to sell to them.

“With the English players, it is a smart idea because we would never have a chance to get Sancho,” he said at the time.

“We are not blind – we saw him, we liked him and then we think ‘can we get him?’ No. Because English clubs don’t sell them to other English clubs.

“I don’t know exactly what the reason is for that but they don’t do it. Now they can go to Germany, which is a wonderful league.”
