Niboco Looking to Enhance Liverpool’s Tourist Infrastructure

Liverpool has long been one of the most iconic cities of the United Kingdom. The incredible architecture and vibrant culture make the city a truly unique place to live or visit, with its long line of celebrities, artists, and sports stars further increasing the appeal to tourists. However, the historic city has long been lacking the infrastructure to be able to host and encourage a great deal of tourism.

Developer Niboco is now unveiling its elaborate plans to enhance Liverpool’s tourism infrastructure by extending existing hotels as well as transform a historic building into a lavish hotel and casino. Niki Bolza of Niboco had this to say: “The only thing that the city lacked historically was the hotel and tourism infrastructure”. He believes that there is now enough focussed leadership to grow Liverpool into the UK’s second-biggest tourist destination over the next decade – with the first, inevitably, being London.

Transforming the George Henry Lee Building into a hotel and casino

The George Henry Lee Building boasts tremendous heritage and is a landmark building in the city of Liverpool. The Doherty family, a local family, previously purchased the building and moved their Rapid retail store inside to ensure that it didn’t decay following the departure of John Lewis. The outlet shut down in 2017 but the building will hopefully be revived by a new partnership. Now, the family has teamed up with developers Niboco and investment property company Williamson Holding to transform the building into a hotel, nightclub, and casino.

Not only would transforming the beautiful building into a hotel give it an additional touch of class and enable it to be enjoyed by all, but making it an entertainment hub in the city would also make it a tourist hotspot. Casino gaming is very popular across the UK, and the nation’s well-regulated gambling scene is one of the perks that tourists can enjoy in the city, as many do by claiming the casino bonus offers that are accessible to anyone via the internet for bonus cash, free spins, and live casino extras. Nightclubs are also a staple of the UK entertainment scene, so having the two offerings in the basement of the building would certainly help to bolster Liverpool’s tourist offering.

Plans to extend Hanover Street’s Gostins Building into a larger hotel

What was once a hidden shopping arcade in Liverpool’s city centre is set to be renovated into a new hotel. Gostins Building on Hanover Street was initially pencilled in to be transformed into a hotel and flats, but now developer Niboco plans of extending the building by four storeys to add more potential hotel rooms. The four storeys on top of the existing seven floors would enable the creation of over 270 rooms, with the £30-million renovation set to reopen Gostins Building as a four-star hotel by 2021.

Niboco’s plans to create a stronger tourist infrastructure in Liverpool appear to be moving along nicely, with two stunning buildings already in their plans for renovation.
