Everton winger Bolasie cancels season-long loan

Yannick Bolasie has returned to Everton after cancelling his Aston Villa loan.

Bolasie agreed a season-long stay at Villa Park after falling out of favour with the Blues and scored two goals in 21 appearances for the Championship outfit.

But the DR Congo international decided against staying with Villa for the duration of the campaign and exercised an option to rejoin his parent club on Monday.

His final appearance for Dean Smith’s side came in a 2-2 draw with Hull City.

“Yannick Bolasie is returning to Everton after the player exercised an option to return to his parent club,” confirmed a Villa statement.

“The club would like to thank Yannick for his contribution to Aston Villa during his loan spell and wish him all the best in his future career.”

It is understood that a key factor in Bolasie opting to rejoin the ranks at Goodison Park is the player’s belief he can force his way into Marco Silva’s plans.

Earlier this term, the 29-year-old admitted that he had rushed his Everton comeback after being sidelined for over 12 months with a cruciate knee injury.
