Silva reveals Everton’s lack of January resources

Marco Silva has admitted Everton are unlikely to make any signings this month.

Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi continues to be touted as a potential incoming at Goodison Park with Richarlison still being deployed as an auxiliary front man.

Between the Brazil international and established marksmen Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Blues’ front line has only recorded 17 goals this term.

But Silva insists Everton must offload players before considering reinforcements.

He said: “It is not my job to change my mind.

“When you asked me the last few weeks the possible players coming or not in the market, I told you that you just can’t sign someone if someone leaves the club or we sell someone.

“We don’t have the financial conditions to go in the market, (that) is the feedback I have at the moment.

“I have to find different solutions.”

Oumar Niasse is expected to leave this month with Cardiff City understood to be hoping that the Senegalese striker will join on a half-season loan.

However Silva revealed that Everton are yet to receive anything beyond firm interest from Neil Warnock’s side.

“Strong interest coming from Cardiff but nothing is done yet,” he admitted.

“We have to wait and see if things will go in this way or not. What I can tell you know is nothing is done but the interest is strong.

“There’s nothing more to say about that. It’s something that could happen but until the [current] moment it’s not something done.”
