Silva pleased with Everton strength in depth

Marco Silva has expressed his delight at the current strength in Everton’s squad.

Sunday’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace was made possible by the introductions of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun, who both came off the bench to score.

Ademola Lookman, another substitute, also played his part in the belated victory as his cross allowed Calvert-Lewin to break the deadlock in the 87th minute.

That wealth of options is not one Everton had last season and Silva admits his well-stocked side is making it hard to simply name a squad list for fixtures.

He said: “Sometimes you change and everything goes well like this afternoon and sometimes you try it and it’s not the same.

“In that moment the most important thing was that we tried. It is important that these players come in and help us as a team.

“They must show us that everybody is ready to play and fighting for his position in the squad.

“This moment it’s hard for me to name not just the starting eleven but the squad list. Its in this way we can grow as a squad and a club.

“I am happy because the three they come in and helped. Last two games Cenk came in and scored twice.

“Lookman and Dominic they are working really hard to achieve what they want, to start in our starting eleven. Today they helped the team.”
