Mina and Gomes step up Everton comeback trail

Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes have stepped up their returns to Everton action.

The pair are yet to feature for the Blues since arriving from Barcelona during the summer transfer window due to respective foot and hamstring injuries.

But both Mina and Gomes came through a behind-closed-doors game at Finch Farm on Thursday unscathed as part of four players on the comeback trail.

James McCarthy stepped up his own rehabilitation from a double leg break in January as he also featured in the 60-minute match at Everton’s training base.

Should his recovery continue as planned, McCarthy could be in line for a return to first-team action during next Sunday’s visit of Crystal Palace to Goodison Park.

Joining the trio’s recovery was young midfielder Beni Baningime, who suffered an ankle injury during Marco Silva’s first pre-season campaign in charge.
