Usmanov ‘would consider’ Everton investment

Alisher Usmanov has admitted he ‘would consider’ investing in Everton.

Usmanov agreed to sell his shareholding in Arsenal to Stan Kroenke, who staged a £1.8 billion takeover of the north London club last week.

The Russian billionaire already has pre-existing ties with Goodison Park due to close friend Farhad Moshiri, who also previously held a stake at the Gunners.

Moshiri’s links with Usmanov saw the latter’s firm USM Holdings become the naming rights sponsor for the Blues’ training ground at Finch Farm.

Usmanov previously ruled out any financial role at Everton prior to his 11-year involvement at the Emirates Stadium drawing to a close last week.

But the 64-year-old has revealed that he now remains open to the prospect.

“We are friends with Farhad Moshiri,” he told Bloomberg.

“If he needs the support, I am happy to help.

“Should there be a proposal or a possibility to invest in them with good potential returns, I would consider the deal.”
