Everton new boy Lucas Digne has revealed he turned down Liverpool twice.
Digne completed an £18 million move to Goodison Park earlier this week as competition for places in the left-back position alongside Leighton Baines.
The former Barcelona defender had been ridiculed for suggestions that his ‘I never walk alone’ tattoo was an apparent nod to the Blues’ local rivals.
However Digne insists there is no football-related meaning behind the inking and actually claimed to have rejected a move to Anfield on two occasions.
He said: “My tattoo has a story and it’s not about football.
“When I go for my first day at school when I was three or four years old, my parents gave me a necklace with these words on.
“After when I was 18-years-old in Lille I got a tattoo and maybe the Liverpool fans are angry because I said, two times, ‘no’ to [signing for] them.
“I am a Blue.”
