Liverpool face the threat of playing a Champions League game behind closed doors next season.
UEFA are preparing to mete out punishment to the Reds for an attack on Manchester City’s team coach ahead of their quarter-final first leg tie.
The Premier League champions’ vehicle suffered extensive damage as it was pelted by bottles, flares and cans while making its way to Anfield last month.
Although no City players or officials were injured in the incident, Pep Guardiola’s side had to travel back from the game on another coach.
Merseyside Police had publicised the route that Liverpool’s rivals would take into the stadium on social media ahead of the tie, which the hosts won 3-0.
Anfield officials moved quickly to condemn the actions of a minority of fans who threw objects in the direction of City’s coach.
However UEFA could clamp down on the club when its disciplinary body makes a ruling at Thursday’s hearing over its Champions League breaches.
Liverpool are also facing additional charges over fans setting off fireworks in both legs of their tie with City and both legs of their semi-final with AS Roma.
