Sam Allardyce believes that the majority of Everton fans are firmly behind him.
The Blues head into Saturday’s clash with Manchester City having already secured their Premier League status by surpassing the traditional 40-point safety barrier.
But Allardyce still faced supporter backlash in the wake of a 2-1 defeat to Burnley earlier this month as boos and unsavoury chants were aired in his direction.
However the Everton manager insists that he retains the backing of the Goodison Park faithful.
He said: “I don’t really talk about my prudentials or non prudentials outside of the fact that I do the job to do the best of my ability.
“Listening to what’s happening outside has a detrimental effect on you, good or bad, and my job is to accept what people think I am and who I am and I can’t change that because it’s happened over a long period of time.
“For instance, people keep mentioning style of play. I don’t know who mentions it because I don’t see anyone apart from if we play bad, we play bad, and if we’ve played well, we play well.
“Most of the time at home, we’ve played extremely well and the style of play has been excellent.”
Asked if a win over Pep Guardiola’s side would help win over cynical fans, Allardyce added: “There are sceptical fans everywhere and there are very few of them at the moment. It’s a poor question.
“You’re talking about the minority instead of the majority.”
