Burnley reveal ‘contingency plan’ for Everton visit

Burnley have revealed they have a ‘contingency plan’ to ensure their game with Everton goes ahead.

Saturday’s lunchtime clash between the sides at Turf Moor threatens to fall afoul of inclement weather brought on by a cold spell nicknamed the ‘Beast from the East’.

Snow and icy conditions have engulfed the country since Monday and now threaten to lay siege to this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures.

But the Clarets have confirmed that plans are already in effect as part of efforts to ensure the stadium and its surrounding areas are safe for the game to proceed.

“The club’s contingency plan has been in operation since Monday, to clear snow both inside and within the surrounding footprint of the stadium,” read a club statement.

“The club has been liaising with local authorities and league officials and every effort is being made to ensure the match goes ahead as planned.”
