Alvaro Morata will sit out Chelsea’s clash with Everton this weekend.
The striker is set to miss the Blues’ battle with the reigning Premier League champions on Saturday lunchtime after picking up a fifth booking of the season.
Morata was cautioned in the aftermath of scoring the Londoners’ winner in their Carabao Cup quarter final win over Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
He celebrated the late strike by putting the match ball under his shirt to signify his wife’s recent pregnancy, which saw him booked for ‘overcelebrating’.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte lamented the loss of Morata, a summer signing from Real Madrid, ahead of his side’s impending trip to Goodison Park.
He said: “I must be honest, I didn’t see this yellow card.
“He’s a big loss for us, especially because we have to play a tough game against Everton.
“It’s a pity, but we have to accept it.”
