Everton are weighing up a move for Patrick van Aanholt in January.
Sam Allardyce is preparing to raid former club Crystal Palace for the Holland international, who also worked under him during his time at Sunderland.
Van Aanholt has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place at Selhurst Park, finding himself usurped by Jeffrey Schlupp since Roy Hodgson’s arrival.
But reports claim that Allardyce is set to offer the defender an escape with the chance to link up with the former England boss for a third time at the Blues.
According to News Shopper, the Everton manager has identified Van Aanholt as ideal competition for Leighton Baines, who turns 33 this month, at left-back.
Allardyce paid in the region of £12 million to prise the ex-Chelsea man from the Stadium of Light, where he had thrived in Sunderland’s Premier League survival in 2016.
