Everton install Unsworth as interim manager

David Unsworth will take temporary charge at Everton in the wake of Ronald Koeman’s sacking.

The Blues parted company with Koeman on Monday following a dismal start to the season that has seen them win just three games in all competitions.

A hunt is now on for his replacement, with the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel and Sean Dyche believed to be the early front-runners for the position.

In the meantime Everton must now contend with a run of three away games, starting with a Carabao Cup trip to Chelsea and culminating in a Europa League trip to Lyon.

The club has confirmed Unsworth will step up from his role as manager of the U21’s to take temporary charge of the first team, commencing with the trip to the Premier League champions.

It is also believed Unsworth will also take charge of the trips to Leicester City and Lyon as well as a home clash with Watford before the international break.
