Everton midfielder Gareth Barry is on the verge of joining West Brom.
Barry spent the previous four seasons at Goodison Park, initially joining on loan from Manchester City before the deal was made permanent 12 months later.
But the former England international is now looking to continue his career with the Baggies after falling down the Blues’ midfield pecking order this year.
The arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye coupled with the emergence of Tom Davies have seen Barry’s first-team prospects become limited.
Ronald Koeman has agreed to allow the Premier League’s second-highest appearance holder to leave Everton with a deal likely to be completed this week.
Barry is expected to complete a medical with West Brom on Tuesday as Tony Pulis looks to fill the void left by Darren Fletcher’s move to Stoke City.
The 36-year-old made a total of 154 appearances in all competitions for Everton, scoring five goals, and was also voted the club’s player of the year for 2016.
Koeman confirmed last weekend that he would consider allowing Barry to leave Everton if the player wished to secure a move elsewhere.
He said: “Gareth is a great professional and I’m happy for him to stay.
“But if he wants to move we will see what happens.
“I don’t know, it’s not really a decision we need to make.”
