Everton FC defender secures season-long loan

Everton defender Matthew Pennington has secured a loan switch to Leeds United.

Pennington will undertake his fourth spell away from Goodison Park after agreeing to spent the forthcoming season with the Championship outfit.

Prior to his move to Elland Road, the versatile 22-year-old had previously enjoyed brief spells with Coventry City, Tranmere Rovers and Walsall.

Ronald Koeman handed Pennington his first outing of last season for a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool in which the player recorded his first goal with an equalising effort.

A further two appearances followed against Manchester United and Leicester City.

In total, Pennington has played in nine games for Everton in all competitions since being handed his senior debut by Roberto Martinez in the 2015/16 season.
