Christian Benteke could be set for a return to Merseyside with Everton.
Benteke endured a difficult one-year spell with the Blues’ local rivals Liverpool in which the striker scored just 10 times in 42 competitive outings.
A swift move to Crystal Palace saw the Belgium international enjoy a new lease of life, scoring 17 times as the Eagles safeguarded their Premier League status.
But Benteke could again be on the move after emerging as Everton’s potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku following his move to Manchester United.
The £32 million man is one of several players said to be under consideration by Ronald Koeman in his efforts to fill the void left by Lukaku’s departure this week.
Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud had been touted as a possible incoming but could now remain with despite the FA Cup holders recently signing Alexandre Lacazette.
A move for Edin Dzeko is also being assessed but Roma are expected to resist all approaches for the marksman, who scored 29 times in Serie A last season.
Palace are likely to be similarly hostile to Everton’s interest in Benteke, who had previously entertained the prospect of leaving Selhurst Park over the summer.
Chelsea have also emerged as a potential suitor for the 26-year-old.
